Today’s Worth Repeating: Never try to repeat the past.

Togo, Marie Claire, 1990
Today’s Collaboration: California Condors, Boris Karloff as Frankenstein, Japanese horror films and Gordon Matta-Clark are among the many influences that make up the world of Rodarte. Leave it to Kate and Laura Mulleavy, the endlessly innovative pair, to find an ingenious way to showcase their work. This time it’s a book of original photography by French travel journalist Catherine Opie and Minnesota’s own Alec Soth

Shhh! Some things are private.

QotD: “It seems to me that almost all our sadnesses are moments of tension, which we feel as paralysis because we no longer hear our astonished emotions living. Because we are alone with the unfamiliar presence that has entered us; because everything we trust and are used to is for a moment taken away; because we stand in the midst of a transition where we cannot remain standing.” - Rilke
Happiness, an adventure. Images capturing a wandering eye.
—Lookbook for Danielle Everine & Raul Osorio’s upcoming collaborative show, Pale Rider. Art Directors Molly Roark & Gail Madden created characters that connect the audience to the designers’ inspiration — early America and the fearless girls who made history. Beautiful photography by Ingrid Werthmann brings it home.
Friday Inspiration: The Urge for Elsewhere. Occassionally impossible to fight, so why try? After a rather dull, worky summer - very much looking forward to reaping the rewards this fall. Above - Instanbul at sunset, Swedish artist Klara Kristalova, Doorway, and Wall of Magic.
—Today’s Spring: e.e. cummings
Spring is like a perhaps hand
(which comes carefully
out of Nowhere)arranging
a window,into which people look(while
people stare
arranging and changing placing
carefully there a strange
thing and a known thing here)and
changing everything carefully
spring is like a perhaps
Hand in a window
(carefully to
and fro moving New and
Old things,while
people stare carefully
moving a perhaps
fraction of flower here placing
an inch of air there)and
without breaking anything.
Today’s some things I love: Chains worn well, a paris apartment, Julie’s Christie’s hair and some japanese advertising crazy.
—Today’s Paris. I have Paris on the brain and a need to see something beautiful.

Today's Pretty is a silly name that stuck. A document of the trends, influences, ideas, artists, designers, and other innovators I find inspiring. A daily grift of stumbled upon beauty; a stylish anthropology journal. Curated by Amy Roark, VÔO Creative.
