Today’s Pretty: Creative Kismet - Alone on the Prairie, the Secret Lives of Scarecrows.  Or How Amy Pierce came to Minneapolis.  It began with a cold call to our favorite photographer for Molly’s first national ad.  One Mia Tyler, two adopted kittens, and a reupholstered hotel lobby staircase later, and a famous friendship was born.  When Molly and I returned to Minneapolis, we coaxed Amy out to shoot with us, and the rest is l’etoile history.  It’s no coincidence most of our stories center around some form of obsession, because we’re obsessed with storytelling without words.  Anyone who’s worked on one our collaborations knows they’re not for the faint of heart.  Painting school girl uniforms Satan red in the white heat of a Brooklyn August, suspending a good sport model high above the set to get the right shot, outlining another in frosting, unable to move for hours.   There are moments, freezing in a field or bedazzling an Eve-worthy apple at 4 in the morning  - and you can’t help but question if it’s worth it.  We leave that up to you to decide.  The piece linked here was shot some some ago, but it’s fitting.  Scarecrows are melancholy creatures and autumn sparks inevitable endings, but the long winter offers reflection and reinvention.  Look to the spring for the rebirth of this creative powerhouse.  We’ve got more stories to tell.
Special thanks to Krista, Charles,Team Delicious, Jen, Olivia and so many more for braving that blustery day.
